007 First Light Switch 2 Release Delayed Again to 2027
IO Interactive has delayed 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2 for the third time, with the James Bond action-adventure game now set to release in March 2027. The studio claims that the extra development time will result in a more polished and stable experience on Nintendo's latest console.
The Switch 2 version was originally scheduled to be released in 2026 alongside the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC editions. It was then delayed again, this time to March 2027. IO Interactive has not yet announced the exact release date.
Technical producer Cristina Vega explained the decision in an interview with Inven Global, acknowledging that another delay would disappoint fans.
“While being delayed for a third time is certainly disappointing news for fans, this decision was also made for their benefit.”
Vega stated that the development team had been working long hours and required more time. She also cited marketing requests and other factors that impacted the revised schedule.
The developer's main goal is now to make 007 First Light as polished as possible for Switch 2. Vega confirmed that the port is currently aiming for a stable 30fps, with consistent performance being the team's top priority.
The team also tried 60fps and various frame-rate approaches, but those tests did not yield the desired results. According to Vega, development is progressing well with the Switch 2 version nearing the end of its performance and optimization phase.
007 First Light is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027. The exact release date is expected to be announced closer to the time of launch.
