Fans of pirate adventures are about to get the best chance to live out their Assassin's Creed fantasies. Ubisoft has officially announced a massive real-world treasure hunt to coincide with the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, with a jaw-dropping grand prize of $500,000.
The ambitious event, titled Gold & Crystal: The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway, turns the legendary pirate world of Assassin's Creed into a global interactive challenge. The competition, organized with French puzzle company Unsolved Hunts, challenges players to solve complex riddles to find a hidden treasure in the Caribbean.
Ubisoft Turns Assassin’s Creed Into a Real Pirate Adventure
The treasure hunt, which will launch alongside the highly anticipated release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, aims to blur the line between gaming and reality.
Participants will follow clues inspired by the world of Edward Kenway, the legendary pirate assassin from the original Black Flag game. According to the organizers, players will need logic, deduction skills, and patience to solve all 15 puzzles, which will eventually reveal the location of the hidden chest.

The final reward is meant to look like something out of a pirate legend. The winning treasure chest claimed contains:
Gold coins minted with the Assassin’s Creed logo
A replica crystal skull inspired by the game
An opal-encrusted collectible artifact
Additional rare collector items
The combined estimated value of the prize stands at approximately $500,000.
Players Must Pay to Join the Hunt
To join the Assassin's Creed treasure hunt, players must purchase a participation pack from the official Gold & Crystal website. Unlike most gaming contests, this one is not free to enter.
The digital version of the hunt starts at €34.99, while premium collector editions go up to €199.99. Special bundles include bonus items such as Edward Kenway's pirate flag, limited-edition coins, notebooks, and a wax seal kit.
Pre-ordering the hunt grants players early access to the digital platform and a special prologue mission. The introduction mission is expected to last approximately 10 hours and will give players an early start before the official launch on November 9.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Treasure Hunt Could Last Up to Five Years
Organizers say the treasure hunt is meant to be a long-term challenge. Ubisoft and Unsolved Hunts believe it could take two to five years for someone to solve all 15 riddles and discover the hidden treasure chest in the Caribbean.
Players who pre-order will receive early access to the first puzzle before the official launch on November 9. Despite the early advantage, organizers say the hunt is designed to be fair and can be completed by people who have never played Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced before.
Ubisoft is expanding gaming beyond the screen by launching a real-world treasure hunt based on Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The event encourages players to solve puzzles and explore like true pirates, making the overall experience more interactive and exciting for fans.
Gold & Crystal has the potential to become one of the largest gaming promotions ever created, attractive to players who enjoy mystery solving and pirate adventures. Whether the treasure is discovered quickly or remains hidden for years, the search for Edward Kenway's lost fortune has officially started.
