CD Projekt, the creators of Cyberpunk 2077 is responding quickly to a serious problem affecting PlayStation 5 users. Following the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion and the important Version 2.0 update, CD Projekt is preparing to release Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.01. This version attempts to address a significant issue corrupted save data.

The problem occurred when gamers attempted to play the Phantom Liberty expansion using their current base game save files, which could result in data corruption. Recognising the importance of the situation, CD Projekt launched an inquiry right away. The risk of losing many hours invested in the game due to corrupted saves became a major issue for gamers.

CD Projekt is hard at work on a solution to reassure the Cyberpunk 2077 community. Update 2.01 gives people dealing with corrupted save files hope. It should be noted that the next patch will not be able to retrieve previously corrupted save data. It attempts to prevent such incidents, though, by increasing the maximum save file size limit.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt has offered helpful advice to players: "When playing Phantom Liberty, we recommend not overwriting the existing base game saves." This is a stopgap until Update 2.01 provides a permanent solution.

CD Projekt has stated that Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.01 is "coming soon." Aside from fixing the save corruption issue, the patch offers more improvements to improve the gaming experience. These include enhanced radio audio, quicker fighting by cycling to arm weaponry, and technical performance improvements, particularly in the DLC's Dogtown sector.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.01 Highlights

  • The distorted effect caused by selecting a specific dialogue option when talking to Johnny at the end of Automatic Love will no longer persist on the screen.

  • V will no longer die in The Heist by falling through the elevator when riding to the 42nd floor with low FPS.

  • Fixed an issue where the UI could show controller inputs when playing with keyboard and mouse.

  • Made it possible to properly switch to arms cyberware by cycling through weapons.

  • Gig: Breaking News will be properly triggered after approaching the quest area.

  • Vehicle radio volume will be adjusted so it’s not too quiet when compared to other sounds in the game.

  • Addressed the issue of corrupted saves on PlayStation by increasing the maximum save file size limit. Note: this won’t fix the saves corrupted before the update. If you’re experiencing the issue, keep a working save (e.g. resave it as manual save) till 2.01 arrives.

  • Performance improvements for both PC and consoles, especially in the Dogtown area.

These developments follow on following of the recent release of Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0, which significantly revamped fundamental game features. Phantom Liberty, the game's only planned expansion, arrived soon, bringing new content and experiences to the Cyberpunk 2077 environment.

While minor fixes like Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.01 address urgent problems, game director Gabe Amatangelo has hinted that the studio is transferring its focus to other projects, including the highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. This development implies that the Cyberpunk universe will continue to evolve, keeping fans excited for the future.
