In recent reports have emerged suggesting a pause in the legendary Dead Space franchise, following poor sales of its newest chapter that fell short of EA's expectations. The road to a new Dead Space game began in January with the release of the Dead Space remake, which gained critical acclaim. Following this success, EA's Motive division began developing ideas for a potential new entry in the series, according to Bloomberg sources.
Motive showed a strong preference for creating a totally new game for the franchise rather than returning Dead Space 2 via a remake, while both alternatives were being considered. Unfortunately, despite the studio's enthusiasm, the project did not get the go light and was apparently suspended as early as last spring due to pleasing remake sales.
The findings line up with previous Giant Bomb claims, which indicated that preparations for a Dead Space 2 remake were similarly put on hold when the original remake's commercial success fell short of expectations.
EA responded to these charges with a denial via a spokeswoman, noting, "We don't normally comment on rumors, but there is no validity to this story," as reported by IGN. Along with this development, EA stated that Motive would be merged into the larger Battlefield development team. This move attempts to increase collaboration across developers like as DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect, with the goal of expanding the Battlefield universe through integrated multiplayer experiences and interesting single-player tales.
Motive, known for its work on titles like Star Wars: Squadrons, is also actively developing an Iron Man game, showing the studio's varied portfolio and continued commitment to providing immersive gaming experiences.
As fans await further updates on the Dead Space franchise, the gaming community continues to anticipate what lies ahead for both the Battlefield universe and Motive's upcoming projects.
