Capcom has announced major updates to Dragon's Dogma 2 as it prepares to release the highly anticipated Dark Arisen expansion later this year. Beginning June 25, 2026, the Dragon's Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition and several downloadable content packs will be removed from sale on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At the same time, the publisher confirmed that the standard version of the game will have a permanent price reduction, though the new pricing has yet to be revealed.
According to Capcom, the decision is part of a larger effort to support upcoming content updates and changes related to the next phase of the game. The move effectively clears the way for Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a large-scale expansion that aims to improve the RPG experience with new regions, enemies, gear, and endgame content.
The announcement has also renewed debate over Dragon's Dogma 2's launch-era microtransactions. When the game first launched, some optional purchases drew criticism from players who believed certain items provided gameplay advantages. While the items could be earned through normal progression, their inclusion as paid content sparked debate in the community. With many of these add-ons now removed from storefronts, Capcom appears to be moving toward a more streamlined content structure ahead of the expansion.
Here are the Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC items that will no longer be available for purchase starting June 25, 2026:
Dragon's Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition
A Boon for Adventurers–New Journey Pack
Harpysnare Smoke Beacons–Harpy Lure Item
Heartfelt Pendant–A Thoughtful Gift
Ambivalent Rift Incense–Change Pawn Inclinations
Makeshift Gaol Key–Escape from Gaol
Art of Metamorphosis–Character Editor
Portcrystal–Warp Location Marker
Wakestone–Restore the Dead to Life
500 Rift Crystals–Points to Spend Beyond the Rift
1,500 Rift Crystals–Points to Spend Beyond the Rift
2,500 Rift Crystals–Points to Spend Beyond the Rift
These items will remain available:
Dragon's Dogma 2
Explorer's Camping Kit - Camping Gear
Dragon's Dogma Music & Sound Collection - Custom Sounds
Dark Arisen takes players to Norgan, a frozen northern land full of new dangers and rewards. The expansion will also include Lost Rites dungeon challenges, new enemy encounters, additional weapons, armor sets, and other gameplay changes. Capcom has already released one free quality-of-life update and has confirmed that another will be available in August, before the expansion.
The upcoming expansion promises to be the most important upgrade to Dragon's Dogma 2 since its release. By retiring older DLC offerings and simplifying the game's purchasing options, Capcom is positioning Dark Arisen as the next major chapter for both new and returning players.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is set to release on October 9, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Fans can expect to learn more about the expansion and future updates in the months leading up to its release.
