Bandai Namco the renowned game publisher surprised fans on Tuesday with a teasing hint regarding the upcoming release of the highly awaited Elden Ring DLC. As promised, today saw the release of the first trailer for the upcoming expansion, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. To add to the excitement, FromSoftware's developers announced the expansion's official release date slated for June 21.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was first released in February of the previous year, but its producers have only provided a few clues. The game has remained unknown ever since. In a curious statement released alongside the original announcement, FromSoftware asked players to "Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together," hinting to the possibility of new experiences in the Lands Between.

The first reveal of Shadow of the Erdtree hinted at the expansion's setting and major characters via a single piece of artwork. Miquella of the Haligtree, a demigod and Empyrean known as the twin brother of the fearsome Malenia, was extensively depicted in the artwork a character who was notably absent from the original Elden Ring. Miquella's arrival was further indicated in an encounter with Mohg, in which the demigod is ensnared within a strange egg sac.

During the expansion, players are likely to go through the Land of Shadow in search of Miquella, where they will face a powerful new enemy. Messmer the Impaler, a powerful boss with strong connections to both Miquella and Malenia, promises a hard and intense gameplay experience.

The base game Elden Ring is presently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The thrilling addition, Shadow of the Erdtree, is set to hit these platforms as well, allowing a wider audience to participate in the future Elden Ring adventure.
