Rockstar Games has officially released the second trailer for GTA 6, giving fans a deeper and more intimate look at the game's dual characters and the huge world of Vice City. Along with the trailer, Rockstar has stated that the game will now be released in May 2026.

The trailer follows the dynamic duo at the center of the story, Jason and Lucia, as they navigate a sun-drenched but dangerous modern Vice City and the larger state of Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida. The teaser, with gritty imagery and intense music featuring "Love Is a Long Road" by Tom Petty and "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters, teases a complicated story of survival, trust, and ambition.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” reads an official story synopsis. “But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Character profiles give the game a narrative edge rarely seen in the franchise:

Jason grew up around con artists and criminals. After a difficult teenage years, he enlisted in the Army in an attempt to escape his past. But he quickly found himself back in familiar territory—this time in the Florida Keys, dealing with drug smugglers. His journey connects with Lucia's, starting a partnership that might either save or destroy him. "Jason knows how he'd like it to turn out, but right now, it's hard to tell," Rockstar admits.

Lucia, meantime, was bred to battle from an early age, formed by a difficult background and time spent in the renowned Leonida Penitentiary. Her escape was pure luck, but her drive is anything but that. She's determined to break out from a life of poverty and instability, and she's working hard to change the odds in her favor. "More than anything, Lucia wants the good life her mom dreamed of back in Liberty City," according to the description. "But instead of chasing fantasies, she's ready to make it happen—no matter what it takes."

The trailer concludes with a note saying that all footage was shot on a PlayStation 5 and features breathtaking visuals, a living open environment, and Rockstar's trademark attention to detail. To go along with the video, Rockstar shared 70 new screenshots, showcasing everything from Vice City's palm-lined boulevards to dark underground places and a diverse cast.

The statement comes after Rockstar confirmed that the game's release date had been pushed back to May 2026. Though disappointing for eager fans, the company stated that the delay is required to ensure that the game reaches its high creative goals.

“We fully support Rockstar Games in taking the time needed to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI,” said Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. “This is shaping up to be a groundbreaking blockbuster that will exceed expectations.”

He added, “We understand the global anticipation and remain committed to excellence. As we roll out the rest of our lineup, we anticipate a multi-year period of significant growth and shareholder value.”

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released initially on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With a captivating tale, two unforgettable leads, and a huge spaces unlike anything Rockstar has done before, GTA 6 is set to rewrite open-world storytelling for a new generation.
