Microsoft has officially unveiled a new look at Halo: Campaign Evolved confirming that the much-anticipated remake of the original Halo campaign will be released on July 28, 2026. The announcement came during the Xbox Games Showcase, where fans saw a new trailer highlighting the game's improved visuals, expanded story content, and modern gameplay enhancements.
Unlike previous remasters, Halo: Campaign Evolved is being rebuilt from the ground up as a complete reimagining of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, which helped define the Xbox brand in 2001. Halo Studios developed the project, which focuses only on single-player and cooperative gameplay, with no competitive multiplayer mode included.
One of the most notable features is that the remake is the first Halo title created using Unreal Engine 5. The new technology enables the team to deliver significantly improved environments, character models, lighting effects, and cinematic storytelling while maintaining the atmosphere that made the original adventure so popular.
The remake also includes three entirely new missions, expanding the story. Among them is Operation: Meteorite, a new story chapter set three years before the events of the original game. The mission follows Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson as they conduct a covert UNSC operation on a Covenant research vessel. What starts out as a simple mission quickly becomes a dangerous encounter that reveals new information about the Halo universe.
Halo Studios promises fully remastered 4K visuals alongside classic Halo weapons, vehicles, and combat encounters. The additional story content is intended to provide longtime fans with new experiences while also introducing new players to the origins of Master Chief's legendary journey. The remake is a celebration of Halo's 25-year legacy, going far beyond the graphical improvements seen in previous anniversary editions.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released on July 28, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players who purchase the Premium Edition (€79.99) or Collector's Edition (€176.95) will be granted five days of Early Access, allowing them to begin playing on July 23.

The Premium Edition contains exclusive armor packs, a digital story collection, and bonus artwork. Meanwhile, the Collector's Edition includes a Master Chief figurine, steelbook case, Cortana data chip, and printed game manual, making it the ideal package for Halo fans.
