Housing in Crimson Desert is not immediately available but once unlocked it becomes one of the game's most rewarding systems. Your home evolves with the story, eventually becoming a fully customizable base complete with furniture and useful items. Here's how to unlock and decorate your first house.

How to Unlock Your First House in Crimson Desert

You will not be able to use the housing system right away because it is unlocked through story progression. Kliff and the Greymanes are left without a home after being scattered early in the game, but this changes once you reach Chapter 3, when the housing feature becomes available and you can start setting up your own place.

To unlock your house:

  • Complete Chapter 2

  • Defeat the boss Hornsplitter

  • Reach Hernand City in Chapter 3

  • Speak with Marquis Serkis

As part of the story, you’ll be given control of Howling Hill, a location near the Goldleaf Camp. This is where your base begins.

From there:

  • Go to the Greymane camp and get it running.

  • Cross a nearby ravine path.

  • Follow the hill path to a house situated on the cliffs.

This building is your home. It’s unlocked from the start and includes a few basic rooms, along with a bed that lets you rest and pass time.

Once inside your house, you can start customizing it using the in-game edit mode.

  • Open the quick menu

  • Enter house edit mode

  • View your home from a top-down perspective

  • Place and move items freely before confirming

There are a few limitations:

  • Only items marked with a house icon can be placed

  • These include decorations and furniture, not general inventory items

Expect to start with a mostly empty space and build it up over time.

Where to Get Furniture and Decorations in Crimson Desert

You’ll find some decorations through exploration, but most furniture comes from vendors.

  • Alden’s Provisioner (Hernand Town)

Located opposite the blacksmith, this shop sells smaller items like bowls, plates, lanterns, and dolls.

  • Furniture Shop (Southwest of Hernand Town)

Found along the upper road above the farm, this shop focuses on larger pieces like tables, cabinets, and drawers.

  • Greymane Camp Merchant

Unlocked later by upgrading your camp, this vendor adds more furnishing options as you progress.

One standout item is the Cauldron, available at the furniture shop. It allows you to craft wine and elixirs at home, but it comes at a high silver cost so plan accordingly.

Housing in Crimson Desert is closely related to story progression, but once unlocked, it adds an important layer to the experience. Your home at Howling Hill begins small, but with time and resources, it can develop into a fully personalized base that represents your journey.
