Recently, Spider-Man 2's developers Insomniac Games released a new patch that fixes an accidental flag mix-up that was causing up controversy among players. Ever since the game's original release attentive players have noticed a large flag—possibly the Cuban national flag—inside the house of the game's protagonist Miles Morales. There is a lot of confusion because the character and his family are Puerto Rican.
In fact, the designs of the flags of Cuba and Puerto Rico are similar with five stripes a triangle on the left side, and a star in the middle. However, their colour schemes are different; the Puerto Rican flag features blue and red stripes, while the Cuban flag features a red triangle with blue stripes. Most people agree that this error was caused by a straightforward human error with the wrong flag accidentally being stuck on the wall of Miles virtual house.
Insomniac Games responded to this problem by releasing a patch for the game today that essentially swaps out the Puerto Rican flag for the Cuban flag. The developers acknowledged the significance of accurately capturing such details and confirmed their commitment to truthful image in a statement. They expressed their sincere apologies to the gaming community and promised to keep raising the bar in their upcoming projects.
Apart from fixing the flag the updated patch addresses a few additional issues. It fixes a bug where after long play sessions in-game models would not load properly. It also adjusts the Amazing 2 Suit's Spider logo's brightness making for a more visually appealing gaming experience.
Bonus: Insomniac Games has made public what it has planned for future upgrades, which include a mission replay function and a New Game Plus mode. It is believed that these exciting improvements which are scheduled to launch later this year, will improve the gameplay experience for fans of Spider-Man 2.
