Insomniac Games has revealed that the highly anticipated New Game Plus option for Spider-Man 2 will be delayed until early next year. The PlayStation studio stated on social media that extra testing is required to verify the quality and performance of the update.

The message read,

“We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards."

The next game update is now scheduled for early 2024, with a commitment to reveal a detailed list of features closer to the release date. In response to player input, the studio confirmed the inclusion of frequently requested features such as changing the time of day customising tendril colours, and repeating missions.

The statement concluded with gratitude for the community's patience, saying,

"We can’t wait to share more with you in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as our team works to finish our next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2!"

In other news, Spider-Man 2 voice actor Tony Todd recently claimed that 90% of the Venom dialogue he recorded did not make it into the final game. The consequences of this finding are unclear: whether it represents scrapped content that may have been included in the main game, or if the extra dialogue was recorded for possible DLC or a spin-off title.

In an interview conducted right before the release of Spider-Man 2 in October, Insomniac's senior narrative director, Jon Paquette highlighted the significant role of fans in setting the series' path. Paquette added that the studio would take fan comments into account when determining the future course of the Spider-Man series.
