Microsoft announced in a recent Xbox blog post that it plans to say goodbye to multiple titles across its gaming platforms, including console, PC, and cloud services, by the end of the month. The removal of games such as Black Desert, Commandos 3 - HD Remasters, Immortality, Nuclear Throne, Surgeon Simulator 2, and Tinykin from the gaming roster is announced in this announcement. The upcoming departure of Immortality, a game that has received critical acclaim since its premiere in 2022, is especially regrettable, leaving a noticeable hole in the gaming collection.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers might currently find a silver lining in the issue, since they are eligible for a 20% discount on all game purchases when purchasing these titles outright. This offer is reassuring to people who want to continue playing these titles once they leave the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.
As the end of August approaches, Game Pass customers can look forward to some intriguing new additions. Everspace 2 is set to be released on August 15, followed by Firewatch on August 17. Furthermore, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Sea of Stars will be available on August 18 and August 29, respectively. Looking ahead, Microsoft has officially confirmed that Gris will be added to the title Pass on September 5, only one day before the highly anticipated release of Starfield, the company's flagship title of the year, on September 6.
It's worth mentioning that Microsoft recently revised their pricing structure for Game Pass. As a result, the monthly charge for the ordinary console membership has increased to $11 per month. In the meantime, the Ultimate membership fee has been reduced to $17 per month. However, the price of PC Game Pass remains same at $10 per month. In a strategic move, Microsoft is preparing to launch a new subscription tier called Xbox Game Pass Core, which will be available in September.
As August draws to a close, the following titles are scheduled to exit the Xbox Game Pass catalog on August 31:
Black Desert (console and cloud)
Commandos 3 - HD Remaster (console, PC, cloud)
Immortality (console, PC, cloud)
Nuclear Throne (console, PC, cloud)
Surgeon Simulator 2 (console, PC, cloud)
Tinykin (console, PC, cloud)
Microsoft's ever-changing Game Pass environment features a mix of goodbyes and appealing new arrivals for players across several platforms. With these improvements come price modifications and the promise of a new subscription tier, all of which contribute to Microsoft's dynamic and diverse gaming experience.
