Capcom has officially confirmed that a major story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is currently in the works. The upcoming DLC will expand the game's narrative and provide players with a more in-depth look at the world introduced in the most recent installment of the survival horror franchise.
Game director Koshi Nakanishi made the announcement via a video message posted on social media. In the video, Nakanishi thanked fans for their support since the game's release and revealed that Resident Evil Requiem has already sold more than five million copies worldwide.
New Updates and Features Coming to Resident Evil Requiem
Before the story expansion, Capcom aims to release many upgrades and new features for the game. One of the most needed updates Photo Mode is finally on its way. This allows users to capture gameplay moments and explore the game's settings from a creative viewpoint.

Nakanishi also announced a surprise update in May, which will include a new mini-game. While specifics remain unknown, the director showed a few idea slides at the announcement.
Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC in Development
The biggest reveal, however was the confirmation that further story content is actively being developed.
Nakanishi added that the expansion will delve deeper into the universe and story of Requiem, but gamers may have to wait a bit before it is released.
“We are planning to create additional story content,” he said in the video. “It will explore the world of Requiem further. Development is underway, but it will take some time.”
Capcom has not yet announced a release date for the DLC, suggesting that the expansion is still in early development.
Possible Leon Kennedy Story Tease
During the presentation, fans also noticed an intriguing image featuring Leon S. Kennedy. The artwork showed Leon embracing a mysterious woman under the title “Forbidden Requiem.”
This image rapidly sparked outrage in the community. Some players believe it could hint at future story content or enter Leon's personal life.

Adding to the plots, many gamers noticed that Leon looks to be wearing a wedding ring at times in Resident Evil Requiem. This minor element has already prompted fans to speculate about a possible romantic partner in the novel. It's unclear whether the DLC will truly address Leon's relationship, but the hint caught fans' interest.
Alongside the new content, Capcom confirmed it will continue releasing patches and performance updates to improve the overall experience. Resident Evil Requiem is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
