Konami has officially announced the release date for Silent Hill: Townfall, providing horror fans with their best look yet at one of the franchise's most intriguing entries since its recent revival. During the Summer 2026 PlayStation State of Play showcase, a brand-new trailer revealed new gameplay, story details, and confirmed that the game will be released on September 24, 2026.
Silent Hill: Townfall Takes Players to a Mysterious Scottish Island
Unlike previous entries in the series, Silent Hill: Townfall moves away from the iconic fog-covered town that gave the franchise its name. Instead, players will explore the eerie island settlement of St. Amelia, a remote Scottish fishing community created after the real-life village of St Monans in Fife.
The story follows Simon Ordell, a man who is mysteriously summoned back to the island to confront unresolved past events. When Simon arrives, he discovers a deserted town hidden beneath dense fog, where strange events and unsettling secrets begin to emerge.
As Simon investigates the island's mysteries, he meets Zoe, a local nurse who seems to know more about the town than she admits. Their conversations raise additional questions about Simon's connection to St. Amelia and the dark forces that lurk within it.
First-Person Gameplay Brings a Fresh Horror Experience
Townfall marks an important change for the Silent Hill series by using a first-person perspective. Unlike previous games, which primarily used third-person gameplay, this new approach seeks to make exploration and horror feel more personal and immersive.

Players will explore abandoned streets and buildings, avoiding dangerous creatures rather than fighting them. The game also includes new mechanics like throwing bottles to distract enemies, as well as interactive parts like using computers and uncovering digital clues to help solve the mystery.
Silent Hill: Townfall Makes Every Puzzle Matter
Screen Burn, a Scottish studio places a strong emphasis on puzzle solving. According to writer and director Jon McKellan, each puzzle was designed to work in together with the story rather than as separate gameplay challenges.
This approach means that solving puzzles will not automatically unlock new areas. Instead, each challenge is designed to reveal important story details, allowing players to better understand Simon's past and the strange events taking place on the island.
The gameplay footage hints at a wide range of puzzles, from realistic environmental challenges to more surreal psychological scenarios that longtime Silent Hill fans will undoubtedly enjoy.
Silent Hill: Townfall Pre-Order Details
Konami has confirmed that Silent Hill: Townfall will be available in both Standard and Deluxe Editions. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition unlocks two exclusive CRTV cosmetic skins, "CRTV: Rusted" and "CRTV: Beach Edition," allowing players to customize their device's appearance.

The Deluxe Edition includes everything from the Standard Edition, as well as an alternate Simon outfit, a bonus application with an interactive artbook and digital soundtrack, and 48 hours of early access before the game's launch. These customization options provide players with additional ways to personalize Simon and his CRTV throughout the game's haunting adventure.
Silent Hill: Townfall is another significant step in Konami's revival of the iconic horror series, adding a new setting, first-person gameplay, and a new story to the franchise. The game, set to release on September 24, 2026, promises a tense and atmospheric experience as players discover the dark secrets hidden within the fog-covered island of St. Amelia.
