Starfield PS5 Release Date Confirmed, Major Update and New DLC Revealed

After years of Xbox exclusivity and months of rumours, Starfield will officially launch on PlayStation 5 next month, bringing a massive update and new content.
Starfield Arrives on PS5 This April
Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed that Starfield will be released on PlayStation 5 on April 7, making it the first time the space RPG will be playable on Sony's console. The game, which was originally released in 2023 as an Xbox and PC exclusive, is now available on PlayStation, bringing an end to a long period of platform limitations.
The PS5 version will include all previously released content, alongside what Bethesda is calling the biggest update since launch.
Built for PS5 and PS5 Pro
Starfield for PlayStation 5 is being optimised to take advantage of Sony's hardware. Players can expect complete support for the DualSense controller, including adaptive triggers, touchpad functionality, and light bar integration.
On the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro, the game will have two visual modes:
Performance mode - targets smoother frame rates.
Visual mode - focuses on improved graphics quality.
This gives players options based on whether they prefer performance or visuals.
Starfield New DLC: Terran Armada and Free Lanes
Along with the PS5 launch, Bethesda is introducing two new content expansions:
Terran Armada - introduces new characters, missions, enemies, locations, and rewards. Premium Edition owners will receive it for free, while others can buy it separately.
Free Lanes - aims to improve the core gameplay experience for new and returning players.
These additions are part of a larger effort to improve the game through meaningful updates.
The upcoming update isn’t just about new content it also introduces several quality-of-life improvements and gameplay systems. One of the most notable additions is cross-outpost storage, allowing players to manage resources more efficiently across different bases.

Another highlight is a new cruise system, which aims to improve space travel and exploration.According to the development team, this update is the most refined version of Starfield to date, with significant improvements across multiple systems.
The decision to bring Starfield to PlayStation 5 had been widely anticipated, with leaks and speculation circulating for months. The release has been officially confirmed, allowing a whole new audience to explore Bethesda's ambitious sci-fi universe.
