Marvel Studios just dropped the X-Men teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and it’s a big deal because the iconic mutants are finally making their grand entrance into the MCU. After being shown in theaters before Avatar: Fire and Ash and leaking online last week, this teaser is now officially out for everyone to see. Fans can finally get a good look at how the X-Men are going to fit into Marvel’s next big hit.

The teaser brings back some fan-favorite characters with their original Fox-era actors. Patrick Stewart is back as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen returns as Magneto, and James Marsden is once again Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. This officially connects the old X-Men films with the current MCU, something fans have been eagerly waiting for.

The teaser mostly takes place at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, setting a darker mood right away. The X-Mansion is shown in ruins, hinting at a massive attack. In a dramatic scene, Cyclops removes his visor and unleashes a huge optic blast as the mansion goes up in flames. Nearby, a giant mechanical foot—probably a Sentinel’s—suggests these mutant-hunting machines are a big part of the chaos.

One of the teaser’s most emotional moments shows Professor X and Magneto playing chess, a nod to their long history in the X-Men movies. As they hold hands, Magneto drops a chilling line about death being unavoidable, adding to the grim, almost apocalyptic vibe. This hints that the X-Men might be up against their toughest enemy yet.

Visually, the teaser sticks closely to the comics. Cyclops is rocking a blue-and-yellow suit that looks a lot like his classic outfit, which is great for fans who weren’t thrilled with the darker costumes in past films. Professor X’s outfit features a bold X logo, and the overall look draws from the 1990s X-Men comics and animated series. These design choices show Marvel’s commitment to honoring the source material while updating it for the MCU.

The teaser has also sparked more rumors about Doctor Doom, who many believe is the main villain in Avengers: Doomsday. Leaked set photos hinted at a huge battle at the X-Mansion with Sentinels, leading fans to think Doom might be behind an attack that wrecks the mutant team. Some theories say this could be similar to the opening of Avengers: Infinity War, setting Doom up as a massive threat by dealing a harsh blow early in the movie.

Interestingly, several big Marvel characters are missing from the confirmed cast. No sign of Spider-Man, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, Storm, Deadpool, or the Guardians of the Galaxy. Their absence has led to speculation that Avengers: Doomsday is focusing on a smaller group to set up an even bigger crossover in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is hitting theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on December 17, 2027. With the return of legacy characters, comic-accurate designs, and a darker tone, the X-Men teaser shows that Avengers: Doomsday is set to be one of the most ambitious and emotionally charged films in MCU history.
