Game Science has finally given fans a good look at Black Myth: Zhong Kui. The studio has released a 15-minute gameplay trailer for its next action RPG, revealing a mysterious new protagonist, fast-paced combat, and a world that already appears remarkably detailed despite the game's early development.
The trailer begins peacefully with the protagonist arriving at a calm beach surrounded by moving greenery and open water. He eventually enters a cave and meets an elderly man, before the two attempt to build a raft and flee the area.Things quickly take a darker turn.
After a brief underwater sequence, the footage transitions to combat, providing the first clear indication of how Game Science intends to separate Zhong Kui from Black Myth: Wukong.
The protagonist fights with a sword and appears to possess supernatural abilities. During one major encounter, he needs to dodge and parry attacks from a large creature covered in shell-like armor.
The fight becomes more intense when the protagonist summons another entity to assist him. The two later merge, giving him powerful elemental attacks that aid in defeating the creature. The scene appears impressive, but Game Science has stated that the game is still in development, so the final version may look and play differently.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui was first announced in 2025, following the huge success of Black Myth: Wukong. Instead of returning to the world of Journey to the West, Game Science is focusing on Zhong Kui, a legendary figure in Chinese mythology and folklore who is associated with fighting demons and evil spirits.
Game Science hasn't revealed many details about the story yet, which makes the scenes in the new trailer even more interesting. The studio has confirmed that Black Myth: Zhong Kui will be a single-player action RPG with new gameplay elements centered on its new protagonist.
There is currently no release date. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is planned for PC and major consoles, but Game Science has stated that development will take time.
For the time being, the new trailer shows that the studio is not simply attempting to recreate Wukong. It appears to be building on the foundations of its previous success to create something very different—but potentially just as aspirational.
