Turn 10 Studios has officially announced that Forza Motorsport will no longer get new content updates, which signals a big change in focus for Xbox's popular racing series. In a statement posted on the official Forza website, the developers said they are now fully concentrating on supporting Playground Games' upcoming Forza Horizon 6.

Forza Horizon 6 was shown at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 and is set in Japan.

It's planned to release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. With this new project in the works, Turn 10 has stated they won't be adding any new cars, tracks, features, or routine bug fixes to Forza Motorsport anymore.

“As our team shifts its focus toward delivering the best possible experience with Forza Horizon 6 in 2026, we do not plan to introduce new cars, tracks, features, or regular bug fixes for Forza Motorsport. However, we will continue supporting the game by keeping online servers active, hosting special events and competitions, and reintroducing previously released Featured Tours and reward cars on a monthly basis, until all content is available for you to enjoy anytime. We hope you continue racing with us on Forza Motorsport in 2026 – see you at the track.”

In 2023, Forza Motorsport was launched as a fresh start for the series. Throughout its run, it saw 22 free updates that introduced new tracks, cars, and gameplay enhancements. Recently, the studio has decided to stop adding new content, which comes after a tough year for the team, including major layoffs at Turn 10 as part of larger cuts at Microsoft.

These layoffs led to questions about the future of Forza Motorsport. Some former employees suggested the team had shifted focus to supporting Forza Horizon. However, Xbox Gaming's CEO, Phil Spencer, clarified that the Forza Motorsport brand is still active but there are no plans for a new game in the near future.

Spencer explained that Xbox is currently focusing on projects that are close to being finished, while giving other teams more time to develop their games. With many studios and numerous projects underway, Xbox Game Studios is adopting a long-term, flexible strategy for its lineup.

For now, fans will have to wait and see what's next for Forza Motorsport. Everyone is looking forward to Forza Horizon 6, which is expected to come out in the first half of 2026, possibly leading the way for the franchise's future direction.
