The gaming audience was treated to an unexpected reveal at The Game Awards—the introduction of God of War Ragnarok Valhalla. While rumours of a God of War Ragnarök expansion have been moving for some time the announcement during the awards show caught many by surprise. Such announcements are often saved for PlayStation's State of Play events, making this surprise all the more exciting. The announcement that the DLC will be published in just a few days, and to the delight of players, it would be free of charge—a kind holiday gift from Santa Monica Studio—added to the excitement.

God of War Ragnarok Valhalla, which was released just yesterday has already received significant acclaim from players. Positive reviews have flooded social media, with IGN's Simon Cardy praising the DLC as a profound experience, noting, "I've put three hours into God of War Ragnarök Valhalla already and am still constantly discovering new story moments, locations, and enemy types." This is a much more in-depth DLC than I expected." On Twitter, one person announced the Valhalla DLC to be the 2023 Game of the Year, while another celebrated the "incredible" tale with unexpected epic moments.

Despite the hype, some players were caught aback by the length of the Valhalla expansion. Christopher Judge, the actor who plays Kratos made an explosive joke at The Game Awards, claiming that his 2022 Best Performance speech was longer than the Call of Duty campaign for that year. Players are already noticing that God of War Ragnarök's free expansion is longer than Modern Warfare III's main campaign, giving an amusing twist to the ongoing story.

Because Valhalla completion times are still being reported, there is no official data from HowLongToBeat at this time. Early estimates indicate that players are spending between three and six hours on core content, with some predicting more than ten hours for a complete experience. In comparison, Modern Warfare III's main campaign is also three to six hours long, with a full completion time being closer to nine hours. The competition between the two is indeed close, adding to the gaming community's excitement for God of War Ragnarök Valhalla.
