This is the ideal opportunity for die-hard gamers and racing fans who haven't yet felt the exhilaration of Gran Turismo 7 to take to the virtual wheel. The popular racing simulation game's creator Polyphony Digital, has recently revealed a significant 1.40 update, which is said to be the biggest since the game's original release last year.

Today at 11 PM PST (or 6 AM GMT on November 2)  the much-awaited Spec II Update 1.40 will launch, bringing with it an array of interesting new features for the game. Leading the way in this update are seven all-new vehicles that are guaranteed to quicken the heart rates of automotive enthusiasts. Not only that, but the update also adds the gorgeous Lake Louise snow circuit, which has three distinct course configurations that will test the skills of even the most experienced drivers.

The seven new vehicles that are a part of the update are:

  • Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi ‘68

  • Dodge Charger SRT Demon ‘18

  • Lexus LFA ‘10

  • NISMO 400R ‘95

  • Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) ‘22

  • Tesla Model 3 Performance ‘23

The addition of a four-player split-screen Couch Mode, a game-changer for shared gaming experiences, is one of the biggest improvements in this release. It's a great addition to get-togethers and gaming evenings because you can now compete against other people in the same room. Furthermore, Sophy an AI driver agent has been merged with the Quick Race function to provide players a distinctive and difficult racing experience that is only available on the PS5 platform.

There's more excitement to come. In addition, 50 new tasks have been introduced to Licences as part of the update, raising the level on gameplay excitement and skill testing. New World Circuits events are anticipated to keep players interested and competitive. To further enhance the gaming experience, there are more alternatives to be explored in the Extra Menus and Café.

The following are the new features of Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.40:

  • SPEC II Opening Movie

  • 7 New Cars

  • New Circuit: Lake Louise with 3 layouts

  • 3 Café / Extra Menus

  • Update to World Circuits

  • Gran Turismo Sophy (AI Driver Agent) with Quick Race (PS5 Only)

  • 50 Challenges added to Licenses

  • Paddock added to Multiplayer Menu

  • 4-Player Split Screen Races (PS5 Only)

  • Features added to Photos / Scapes

  • Updated GT Menu / Dashboard

Though there hasn't been any official word about the PC version of Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi hinted in December that it wasn't being worked on at the time. He did however, leave the door open for a potential PC release in the future giving PC gamers who are itching to hit the virtual tracks a ray of hope.

Since its 1997 release, the Gran Turismo franchise has captured players and seen incredible success. According to Sony, as of November 2022 it had an incredible 90 million in sales. The game keeps getting better, drawing in more players and offering an ever-expanding universe of thrilling racing.

Therefore, the Spec II Update 1.40 is an exciting addition to the already thrilling world of Gran Turismo 7, offering new cars, snow circuits, and dynamic gameplay features that are sure to keep you entertained for hours on end, whether you're a seasoned Gran Turismo fan or a newbie looking to rev up your engines.
