Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition coming to Netflix's Gaming

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition coming to Netflix's Gaming

In an amazing development for gamers, the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will be available on Netflix's subscription service beginning December 14. The critically acclaimed collection, which was first released for PC and consoles in November 2021, includes the legendary titles Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, all meticulously updated for mobile devices.

Subscribers to Netflix can immerse themselves in the action-packed world of Grand Theft Auto on a variety of platforms, including the App Store, Google Play, and the Netflix mobile app. This move comes as Netflix expands its gaming portfolio, hoping to mix significant third-party titles with its ever-expanding first-party content.

The Wall Street Journal previously reported on Netflix's great interest in introducing a GTA game into its subscription service. The streaming service giant is prepared to replicate Hollywood's successful strategy of licencing blockbuster third-party titles to supplement its own material. According to unnamed insiders, Netflix users will see mobile games inspired on popular shows like Squid Game and Wednesday in the next months, with the firm also developing gaming adaptations of Extraction, Black Mirror, and its Sherlock Holmes series.

While Netflix began its gaming venture by providing users with access to a library of mobile games via its Android and iOS apps in late 2021, the platform is now making advances towards deeper gaming experiences that can be broadcast on TVs or PCs. Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - The Definitive Edition joining Netflix's gaming roster connects with the platform's mission to providing varied and interesting content.

Netflix's gaming efforts have been gaining popularity with the August launch of a cloud gaming service in limited beta form. This service now supports two games: Night School Studio's first-party title Oxenfree and Molehew's gem-mining arcade game Mining Adventure. For TV gameplay, players can use their smartphones as controllers, while PC and Mac users can use the classic keyboard and mouse setup.

As the year 2023 approaches, Netflix plans to expand its gaming services promising 40 new game releases throughout the year. Ubisoft's Mighty Quest: Rogue Palace and an appealing new game based on the popular series Too Hot To Handle are among the anticipated releases. Netflix's foray into gaming demonstrates the company's dedication to providing its users with a diverse entertainment experience that includes both original material and beloved third-party titles.
