Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is making waves in the gaming world with the introduction of cloud streaming for the PlayStation 5, which will be available later this month. This new feature is available only to PlayStation Plus Premium members and will be launched in stages across different regions.

According to the official launch date, Japan will embrace the technology on October 17, while European gamers will be able explore into cloud streaming on October 23. North American gamers will not have to wait long, since their turn will be on October 30.

Senior Vice President of Platform Experience at SIE, Hideaki Nishino, expressed the company's goal for this new offering, noting, "Select PS5 games will be available for streaming, and we're planning to have hundreds of PS5 titles to support this new benefit." The list of compatible titles is remarkable, with popular selections such as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Mortal Kombat 11, and Saints Row IV among them.

Additionally, PlayStation 5 owners will be happy to find that several of their digitally purchased titles, such as Resident Evil 4, Dead Island 2, Genshin Impact, Fall Guys, and Fortnite can now be streamed. Game Trials for titles including Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and The Calisto Protocol will be available for those who want a taste of what's to come.

Sony has informed users that downloadable content (DLC) and in-game purchases for streamed PS5 games will be available, enabling a seamless transition between streaming and traditional gameplay.

The streaming experience will cater to a wide range of preferences, with resolution options including 4K, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p, as well as 60 frames per second and SDR or HDR output. Furthermore, all PS5 audio capabilities, including 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound, as well as Tempest 3D Audiotech, will be supported.

Players will be able to easily capture unforgettable moments by taking screenshots and recording up to three minutes of video, which will be preserved in the Media Gallery on the PS5 and accessible via the PS App.

In related news, Sony has released the October PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue and Classics titles, making October a busy month for PlayStation lovers. Furthermore, the business has revealed plans to launch a new, more compact PS5 model in November first in the United States and then expanding to other regions, to replace the current model.

PlayStation 5 owners have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, with cloud streaming on the horizon and Sony's dedication to improving the gaming experience.
