SEGA has officially announced that SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24, 2026, bringing the renowned action-platformer to Nintendo's latest console in both physical and digital form.
SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance created by Lizardcube in collaboration with SEGA has already received positive feedback on other platforms for its fast-paced combat, striking hand-drawn visuals, and classic ninja action. The upcoming Switch 2 release allows Nintendo fans to experience Joe Musashi's latest adventure with improved performance and new edition options.
SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance Features
In SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance players take on the role of legendary ninja Joe Musashi, who must battle powerful enemies in a variety of dangerous environments.
The game has a complex combat system that combines traditional ninja weapons with powerful abilities, allowing players to chain devastating attacks and stylish combos. Here is key gameplay features include:
Precision-Based Ninja Combat - Use Oborozuki Katana, Kunai, Ninjutsu, and Ninpo attacks to defeat enemies quickly and skillfully.
Advanced Combo System - Amulets and Ningi tools allow you to chain attacks, create powerful combos, and unlock new abilities.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will be available worldwide on September 24, 2026. Digital pre-orders are already available via the Nintendo eShop.

One of the Deluxe Edition's standout features is the SEGA Villains Stage DLC. This special add-on allows players to battle iconic villains from some of SEGA's most popular franchises.
During these crossover fights, Joe Musashi will face Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog, Goro Majima from Like a Dragon and Yakuza, and Death Adder from Golden Axe. These unique boss battles add new challenges and a nostalgic feel to the adventure.
SEGA has not confirmed any free or discounted upgrade options for players who already own SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance for Nintendo Switch. As a result, existing owners may have to purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 version separately.
This is in keeping with SEGA's approach in recent releases. However, it differs from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which allows players to upgrade from the Switch version to the Switch 2 version for an extra $10.
