Ubisoft Announces End of Updates for Far Cry 6

Ubisoft Announces End of Updates for Far Cry 6

Ubisoft has officially announced that they will no longer be providing updates for Far Cry 6. The official Far Cry Twitter account shared the news, making it clear that no further patches will be created or made available, even though the game's online features will continue to function.

The post offered pleasure to the millions of participants who have joined the fight in Yara, guaranteeing that their experiences will continue unbroken by any interruptions for online services. But the Far Cry 6 development team will be wrapping up their work soon.

The statement read, "Thanks to the millions of players who joined the fight. Your adventures can continue in Yara without interruption of online services. However, the dev team will no longer be making updates to Far Cry 6. We appreciate your passion, creativity, and love of Chorizo, even Anton is proud."

This news comes after earlier rumours that said Ubisoft was actively developing both a stand-alone Far Cry multiplayer game and a seventh installment in the series. It's interesting to note that Far Cry 7 is apparently being developed on Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, which is different from the Dunia engine used in more recent games in the franchise. According to reports, the multiplayer game takes place in an Alaskan wilderness and is an extraction-based shooter.

With two interesting games planned for release in the autumn or autumn of 2025, Far Cry franchise fans will have enough to look forward to in the upcoming years.

Additionally, Ubisoft has been actively directing the Far Cry brand's future through major additions and advancements. Sandra Warren, a seasoned Ubisoft Montreal employee, was elevated to vice president and executive producer of the Far Cry franchise in August. Warren joined Ubisoft in 2006 and has worked closely on the Far Cry series ever since Primal was released in 2016. Her most recent position was as the Far Cry 6 brand producer, and her promotion is a nod to Ubisoft's commitment to making sure the franchise succeeds in the future.
