Xbox Reveals Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Controller Ahead of Launch

Xbox officially announced the Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Wireless Controller, giving fans a brutal new way to celebrate the return of one of gaming's most iconic franchises.
The controller was announced on August 12 and is now available for pre-order at participating retailers around the world. It will be released on September 30, 2026, just a few days before Gears of War: E-Day arrives on October 6.
Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Controller Design
On September 30, Xbox Design Lab will also be updated with a new Gears of War: E-Day design. This allows fans to create a custom controller inspired by the upcoming game rather than purchasing the standard limited-edition version.

Heavy-metal illustrator Luke Preece created the artwork, which shows a skull above two crossed Lancers, as well as additional skulls and battle-worn details. The controller's design is dark and aggressive, perfect for the Gears of War style.
The controller's rugged design is inspired by Sera's E-Holes, with 3D-moulded and laser-etched cracks on the surface and glowing red details revealing the iconic Crimson Omen below. It also has black ABXY buttons, a clear red X button, red triggers, a transparent D-pad, and a dark silver COG tag on the battery cover. Textured grips complete the battle-worn look, giving the controller a distinct Gears of War feel
Players can also customize their controllers with metallic triggers and D-pads, rubberized grips, and custom engraving. Collectors and longtime Gears fans may find this to be an excellent option for creating a more personal and unique controller.
Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Controller Release Date and Price
The Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller will be available on September 30, 2026, just days before the game's release on October 6. The controller costs $89.99 in the US, £84.99 in the UK, and €89.99 in Europe. Pre-orders are already available on the Microsoft Store and at participating retailers.
The Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Controller is an excellent choice for fans and collectors. The E-Hole-inspired design, red accents, and Crimson Omen details give it a lot of personality. If you enjoy Gears, it is worth considering at $89.99; however, casual Xbox players may be better off with the standard controller.
