IO Interactive has officially delayed 007 First Light, the highly anticipated James Bond action-adventure game, by two months. The studio said that the game will now be released on May 27, 2026, rather than the originally announced March 27.

According to IO Interactive, the delay is intended to give the development team more time to refine and polish the experience before to launch. In a statement released on the game's official social media channels, CEO and game director Hakan Abrak recognized 007 First Light as the studio's most ambitious project to date, stating that the additional production time will assist guarantee the game meets user expectations from the start.

Abrak pointed out that the game is already fully playable from beginning to end, but the extra two months will allow the team to improve performance, fine-tune gameplay mechanics, and deliver the best version possible at launch. As an independent developer and publisher, IO Interactive stated that the choice was made to ensure the project's long-term success rather than rushing it out the door.

The game presents James Bond's origin story, introducing players to a younger, inexperienced 26-year-old Bond before he becomes the iconic 00. Actor Patrick Gibson will play Bond as he embarks on a high-stakes MI6 mission involving espionage, exotic locations, gadgets, and cinematic action.

Gemma Chan also stars as Dr. Selina Tan, a key MI6 figure who is described as a brilliant academic with expertise in psychology and game theory. Her role is said to be critical to Bond's progression and development within the agency.

IO Interactive has let fans know that more information about 007 First Light will be released early in 2026. Until then, the team is thanking players for their patience as they continue to work on making sure the game offers a refined and unforgettable James Bond experience when it comes out in May next year.

007 First Light is still set to launch across all announced platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
