Activision has officially revealed their plan to offer a free multiplayer trial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Players on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC can dive into a curated selection of multiplayer content for free starting December 14 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. BST until December 18 at the same time.

The trial includes access to a number of remastered levels from the game including classic maps such as Terminal, Rust, Highrise, Shipment, Afghan, and the recently introduced Season 1 scenario, Meat, which is set in a California slaughter in the Port of Oakland.

During the free trial period, participants can play Three Ground War maps, War mode, and the thrilling Modern Warfare Zombies experience.

Key features of the free multiplayer trial include:

  • 6v6 Core Maps: Terminal, Rust, Highrise, Shipment, Afghan, Meat.

  • Ground War Maps: Popov Power, Orlov Military Base, Levin Resort.

  • Core Modes: Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Ground War, War.

  • Playlists: Rustment 24/7 (Shipment and Rust), War Mode, 6v6 Moshpit (featuring Highrise, Meat, Afghan, Terminal), Ground War, Modern Warfare Zombies.

Notably, the recently released Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 has brought a slew of new multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone content. The update includes three new 6v6 multiplayer maps as well as the return of the Gunfight, All or Nothing, Infected, and Headquarters multiplayer modes. In addition, players can explore the latest Warzone area, Urzikstan, as well as a new Zombies story act, Dark Aether Rifts.

While Modern Warfare 3 led the UK software sales chart in November, it saw a drop in performance when compared to the previous year's Call of Duty game. According to GSD data spanning both physical and digital retail, Modern Warfare 3's sales during the first three weeks were 38% lower than Modern Warfare 2's sales following its October release last year.
