According to well-known Lego fans Brickmerge and 1414falconfan, a highly awaited Lego set based on The Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda franchise is in the works and could be released later this year. These social media accounts are well-known for correctly predicting upcoming Lego releases, and they have a history of revealing sets before they are officially confirmed.
Last year, a work-in-progress image from an internal document displaying The Great Deku Tree Lego kit leaked online. This classified document, designed for particular retail partners to evaluate interest in possible releases, hinted at the presence of iconic figures like Link and Princess Zelda, as well as a large display stand for the majestic tree.
According to Brickmerge, the set is projected to have 2,500 pieces and will be released in September 2024. If the set follows the previously released idea, it might be an important milestone as the first Lego Nintendo set to feature traditional minifigures. Notably, previous Lego Mario sets used electronic figurines that interacted with specialised Lego components, whereas the future Animal Crossing Lego sets will have figures with specifically sculpted heads.
Fans are giddy with curiosity at the possibility that Lego would release The Great Deku Tree as their first Legend of Zelda-inspired set as the leak gathers momentum. Although Lego has a wide range of Mario-themed sets and more substantial Nintendo-themed releases, such as the Lego Nintendo Entertainment System, it has not yet ventured into other well-known brands within the Nintendo world.
Lego is preparing for the release of Animal Crossing Lego in the upcoming months, and while the company has successfully captured the essence of Mario's adventures in a number of sets, fans of The Legend of Zelda may soon have cause for celebration as the recognisable Great Deku Tree gets closer to becoming a real Lego masterpiece.
