The original Tomb Raider trilogy experienced significant modifications which Aspyr a game development company has revealed. With these updates, players can expect a more modern experience on several platforms. A thorough post on the PlayStation Blog has revealed the details of the next project, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, including the enhancements made to the gameplay and graphics.
Aspyr Media recently announced that it had kept its promise to provide details on the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered project, which would be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation release of the remastered trilogy is set for February 14, with the goal being to revitalise Lara Croft's early adventures around the globe.
Director of Product at Aspyr Chris Bashaar highlighted how the gameplay of the original Tomb Raider trilogy remains timeless, highlighting the games' usage of pre-existing source code to maintain their core. Instead of making major modifications, Bashaar claims that the focus has switched to surprising and delighting people with additions.
Now, players can select between two control schemes: a modern system based on the gameplay of the Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld editions, or the traditional tank controls from the PS1 era. With the addition of a health bar for boss fights, Aspyr has improved the replayability of difficult bouts. Furthermore, over 200 Trophies are available for capture across the PlayStation, and in-game goods like health kits and ammunition now have 3D representations.
The updated trilogy has a tonne of new features, such as a feature-rich photo option and unannounced surprises that Aspyr is currently holding secret. Bashaar highlighted the studio's primary focus on artistic quality, underlining their goal of recreating the games as players would imagine them. Updates to the modern art include updated models, environments, and adversaries; the ability to switch between the original and modern graphics while playing; and baked and real-time lighting effects.
Pre-orders for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered are presently being accepted, with prices beginning at $26.99 / £22.49. With fans looking forward to the return of Lara Croft's legendary adventures, Aspyr's commitment to maintaining the spirit of the originals while adding modern improvements is set to provide a nostalgic yet novel gaming experience.
