According to publisher Activision, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta has officially broken all previous records, making it the franchise's largest beta event.
The beta led the way in several critical categories, including total players, total hours played, and the most matches played. The high level of involvement extended to individual players, with Activision claiming the highest average playtime per user, indicating outstanding fan interest.
A Two-Phase Beta Rollout
The beta was separated into two phases. Early access was available from August 30 to September 4 to those who pre-ordered Black Ops 6 or subscribed to specific Game Pass plans. This phase was accessible on a variety of platforms, including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The second phase, which ran from September 6 to September 9, made the beta available to all gamers, allowing a larger audience to participate.
A Game Pass Milestone
Another first for the franchise, Black Ops 6 will be available straight on Xbox Game Pass when it is released on October 25, 2024. This is the first time a Call of Duty title will be available on Game Pass from day one, possibly reaching millions of users.
No Early Campaign Access
In contrast to other Call of Duty products, Activision has stated that Black Ops 6 would not provide early access to its campaign mode. Previous entries in the series allowed players to immerse themselves in the plot ahead to its official release, but this will not be the case with the upcoming title.
What’s Next for Call of Duty?
While excitement for Black Ops 6 grows, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 6 are also set to premiere on September 18. This new season will include an array of new content, including "The Haunting," a Halloween-themed event involving legendary horror characters like as Michael Myers, Daryl Dixon, and Art the Clown, ensuring that the Call of Duty universe stays action-packed well into the fall.
As the countdown to the full release of Black Ops 6 begins, it's clear that the game is already making history in more ways than one.
