Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Delayed to 2027

Fans eager for the next Bloodstained adventure will have to wait a little longer. ArtPlay the developer of Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, has confirmed that the game will be delayed until 2027.
Series creator and director Koji Igarashi also known as IGA, announced the information in a new development update. The game was originally scheduled for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Igarashi stated that development is now in its final stages, but the team has decided to postpone the launch until 2027 to give the game more development time. He also acknowledged that the delay would be disappointing for fans and thanked the players for their ongoing support.
“We have made the decision to move the game’s release to the year 2027."
Along with the announcement, ArtPlay released new screenshots and confirmed that more gameplay footage will be revealed soon.
What to Expect from Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
The Scarlet Engagement was first announced in June 2025 and is a 2.5D gothic Metroidvania. The game will have two protagonists: Leonard Brandon, a young fighter affiliated with the Church's Black Wolves, and Alexander Kyteler, a knight of the Kingdom's White Stag.
ArtPlay also promises the largest map in Bloodstained history, complete with a day-and-night system. Players will be able to unlock new abilities as they explore the world, as well as use crafting, cooking, and character customization systems.
Although the 2027 delay is disappointing, the extra development time may help ArtPlay polish what appears to be a much bigger sequel. For the time being, fans must wait for a confirmed release date as well as the next gameplay reveal.
