Ubisoft has announced Rainbow Six Tactics, a brand-new spin-off that combines the popular Rainbow Six formula with turn-based tactical strategy. The game, which was announced during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, features several iconic Rainbow Six Siege operators in a single-player campaign that includes strategic combat, destructible environments, and high-stakes missions.
Unlike Rainbow Six Siege, which focuses on competitive multiplayer matches, Rainbow Six Tactics is based on detailed planning and squad management. Players take control of Six, the Rainbow unit's commander, and lead teams of up to four operators on missions all over the world.
Rainbow Six Tactics Siege Operators Return in a New Game
Ubisoft says the game will have 15 operators, each with their own abilities, specialized gadgets, and skill trees. The confirmed characters include Nøkk, Glaz, Ash, Doc, Montagne, Sledge, and Twitch.
Choosing the right combination of operators will be an important aspect of the experience. Players must consider the objectives of each mission and form a squad capable of overcoming the challenges that await them.
Missions will include hostage rescue, bomb disposal, and target elimination. Ubisoft also promises more than 45 locations around the world, with each mission designed to offer unique tactical opportunities.
Destructible Environments Play a Major Role
Destructible environments will be an important feature of Rainbow Six Tactics. Players can break walls to create new paths, improve their lines of sight, remove enemy cover, or find different ways to enter a building. This means that players will have to change their plans as the situation on the battlefield changes.

The game will also include a breach planning system. This allows players to plan a coordinated attack before sending their operators into a specific area. The squad can then enter together and utilize their various abilities at the same time, resulting in a powerful opening move.
Rainbow Six Tactics Release Date
Rainbow Six Tactics will be a single-player game, unlike Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has also stated that it will not use a live-service model or include an in-game store, resulting in a more focused gaming experience.
Ubisoft Paris is developing the game. People from the development team have previously worked on popular Ubisoft games like Mario + Rabbids and Ghost Recon.
Rainbow Six Tactics is set to release in 2027 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Ubisoft has yet to reveal the exact release date. The game, which features familiar operators, turn-based battles, destructible environments, and tactical planning, has the potential to give the Rainbow Six series a new look.
