Billbil-kun, a prominent leaker and dataminer, has revealed insider material hinting towards a remake of the iconic adventure title, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. If the sources are correct, this revitalised version of the classic is expected to be publicly unveiled soon and released by the highly regarded 505 Games, with a possible reveal at the highly anticipated Game Awards on Thursday night.
Brothers was created by Swedish-Lebanese director Josef Fares as his first foray into the gaming world, working together with Starbreeze, before eventually forming the acclaimed studio Hazelight, noted for their latest smash, It Takes Two. Brothers' fantasy-driven tale features the simultaneous control of two brothers starting on an emotional adventure to find a solution for their ill father.
Brothers was first launched in 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, but it has since been expanded to PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Nintendo Switch, and Amazon Luna. The 2019 Switch edition included an important growth, introducing a dynamic two-player co-op mode substantially upgrading the gameplay experience.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Best Innovation award at the 2014 BAFTA Video Game Awards. Due to the game's enormous popularity, Starbreeze decided in 2015 to transfer the title to a "new owner," which resulted in 505 Games acquiring the rights.
Ian Howe, the president of 505 Games at that time, expressed admiration, stating,
"Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a remarkable game, one of the most affecting games of the last generation and one of which 505 Games has been very proud to be associated."
As the remake approaches, fans excitedly anticipate the chance to recapture the magic of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in a new era of gaming clarity.
