Activision has officially announced the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 1. In connection with the start of the new season, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software have released extensive patch notes documenting the most recent game enhancements, which are now available for review in their full. The Season 1 update adds a slew of new content to the game's three main online domains multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies.
Players can explore three new 6v6 maps, the resurgence of Gunfight, All or Nothing, Infected, and Headquarters multiplayer modes, as well as a new Zombies story act and the inclusion of Dark Aether Rifts.
Warzone fans may look forward to the new Urzikstan map which features 11 key areas of interest. Urzikstan has a 20% smaller footprint than previous year's Al Mazrah. Notably, Raven Software has chosen to reduce the player count by one-third, emphasising their commitment to improving the gaming experience for all gamers based on key criteria.
Raven Software elaborated on their approach, stating,
"Our top priority is creating an optimal and fun experience for all of our players based on critical metrics. These metrics include time-to-action, the map size of Urzikstan, new circle timings and sizes, total match time (20 minutes), red dots, contracts, and various new & existing second chance mechanics."
The Warzone update also includes a thorough fine-tuning of elements including bug fixes and weapon balancing. Season 1 also includes new weapons and Killstreaks, a Battle Pass with 100 tiers of content, festive and themed maps and events, and the inclusion of Ranked Play, a competitive multiplayer game.
