In an interesting move, Xbox has announced that Diablo 4 would be the first Activision Blizzard game to join the highly sought-after Game Pass subscription. Following Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of gaming giants Call of Duty and Diablo in October 2023, the gaming world anticipated the addition of Activision Blizzard titles to Game Pass. While Bethesda titles were added to the service within days after purchase, Xbox head Phil Spencer warned against expecting Activision Blizzard games to follow suit.
The much-awaited announcement has finally arrived Diablo 4 will be included to Game Pass on March 28, marking a big milestone five months after the acquisition finished.
Xbox President Sarah Bond announced the news during a podcast providing insights into the Xbox business, highlighting her excitement for the partnership with Activision Blizzard King. She stated:
"I’m excited to announce, with the coming together that we had with Activision Blizzard King, that Activision Blizzard games are coming to Game Pass starting with Diablo 4 on March 28, which I’m super, super excited to share today."
Bond emphasized the commitment to expanding the availability of the Xbox experience and the games they offer.
"And it’s all part of our commitment to make Xbox, the Xbox experience, and the games that we build as widely available as possible. So now the 34 million Game Pass members can all enjoy the fantastic experience of Diablo 4."
Diablo 4 which was initially launched in June 2023, got 12 million players in just two months after its release. Widespread praise for the game was given by critics; its remarkable Metacritic scores are currently 91 for Xbox Series X/S, 87 for PS5, and 86 for PC. With this action, Game Pass will take a big step forward by giving its large user base access to one of the most well-liked games in the Activision Blizzard library.
