Don't Nod the French game developer best known for the narrative hit Life is Strange is facing a serious financial warning after auditors said it could run out of cash by November 2026 if it does not secure new funding.

The Paris-based studio, which also has a development team in Montreal, has made its name with story-driven adventure games. However, its recent financial performance raises concerns about its long-term viability.

According to the most recent audit report, Don't Nod had approximately €8.8 million in cash as of April 2026. While the figure appears to be significant, auditors cautioned that it may not be sufficient to sustain operations for the remainder of the year at current spending levels.

According to internal projections, the company will run out of money by November 2026 unless it secures additional funding or significantly improves its financial position through cost savings or new revenue.

The findings highlight a major concern about the performance of recent releases. Games like Lost Records: Bloom & Rage failed to meet commercial expectations, putting additional pressure on the studio's earnings after years of mixed results.

Tencent, the Chinese tech giant, has also invested in the company, purchasing a minority stake in 2020. However, auditors noted that Tencent does not intend to provide additional short-term funding or support for current game development limiting Don't Nod's options for immediate financial support.

According to its own statement, Don't Nod management has been actively seeking new financing for several months. The company also confirmed that it is in talks with potential investors, but stated that no structured funding agreement has been reached.

Auditors warned that if the studio fails to secure new capital soon, its ability to continue operating as a "going concern" may be put at risk. Don't Nod is now in a critical situation, with the next few months likely determining the studio's future and upcoming projects.
