Konami free-to-play football title eFootball has officially surpassed one billion downloads worldwide. The achievement represents a significant milestone for the long-running franchise, formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer, and demonstrates the series' continued global appeal in its modern, digital-first form.

To celebrate the occasion, Konami has introduced Master League Sprint, a limited-time in-game event that appeals directly to nostalgia. This new campaign created as a tribute to the popular Master League mode from previous Pro Evolution Soccer titles, provides players with a condensed but familiar managerial experience.

For many years, Master League was the series' main mode, allowing players to create their own club, grow players, and compete across multiple seasons. The new Master League Sprint revives the classic feel with fan-favorite fictional characters like Minanda and Castolo.

In this mode, you play as a manager selecting your team, signing players, and organizing training. Matches employ a "Synergy" system in which team chemistry is based on player form and fitness. There are also events such as injuries and player development during games. You can earn points to improve your squad, but the mode is only available until April 16, making it a limited-time experience.

While eFootball continues to grow as a live-service game, Konami is working on something new. The game has not been confirmed for Nintendo's next console, but a separate spin-off, eFootball Kick-Off!, will be released this summer. This version is more focused on offline play, allowing players to create their own teams, travel the world in the World Tour mode, and sign famous football legends such as David Beckham.

Konami is also celebrating the event in a unique way collaborating with Kodansha's K MANGA platform to release a new manga titled That Time I Got Reincarnated in PES. Written by Kiminori Wakasugi, the story follows a character who is transported into the world of Master League, where familiar faces such as Castolo and Minanda appear, combining football with a fun fantasy plot. The manga is available in certain regions via K MANGA and can be obtained through an in-game promotion.
