Electronic Arts (EA) has officially announced a release date for the next installment in the Battlefield franchise. According to the company's third-quarter earnings report, the game will be available before April 2026.

Expected Release Timeline

The forthcoming Battlefield title will be released in fiscal year 2026, which runs from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.

First Look at Pre-Alpha Gameplay

On Monday, EA offered fans a sneak peek of the forthcoming Battlefield game by uploading approximately 10 seconds of pre-alpha gameplay footage. This teaser appeared at the end of a film presenting the development teams working on the game and introducing a new community testing program.

Development Teams & Battlefield Studios

EA established four internal studios under the uniting cover of Battlefield Studios, each of which contributes to a different part of the game. Development teams include:

  • DICE – Leading the multiplayer experience.

  • Motive Studio – Working on multiplayer maps and single-player mission content.

  • Criterion Games – Primarily focused on the single-player campaign.

  • Ripple Effect Studios – Developing a brand-new experience for the franchise.

Introducing Battlefield Labs

Along with development efforts, EA has launched Battlefield Labs, a closed testing environment aimed to collect player feedback and improve gameplay mechanics. According to EA, this marks an important milestone for the franchise, stating:

“This is an unprecedented moment for Battlefield. We will begin by testing fundamental gameplay elements such as core combat and destruction. From there, we will refine balance and feedback for weapons, vehicles, and gadgets, ultimately ensuring that all these components come together seamlessly in our maps, modes, and squad play.”

Player Testing & Registration

EA is asking players to join upcoming test sessions through Battlefield Labs. Initially, testing will be limited to a few thousand gamers in Europe and North America, with intentions to gradually spread to additional regions, eventually reaching tens of thousands of participants.

Players can register today to participate in these early playtests and contribute to the future version of Battlefield. Stay tuned for additional information as EA continues to develop its most ambitious Battlefield game yet.
