In an interview with Game Informer, director Naoki Hamaguchi acknowledged the massive storage required and noted that the game would cover two discs. These discs contain 100 GB and 50 GB of data, respectively, but players will only need to insert one to begin their adventure. The decision to release the game on two discs can be attributed to the PS5's architecture, which removes the necessity for disc swapping, in contrast to the original Final Fantasy 7.
The switch to a dual-disc structure has sparked fans' interest, as Hamaguchi explained that it allows the production team to completely achieve their vision for the game, producing a meticulously detailed environment that surpasses the scope of Midgar in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
