Arion Kurtaj, 18, was placed in a locked facility by a British judge following his hacking of Rockstar and subsequent release of Grand Theft Auto 6 film. Kurtaj, who was diagnosed with acute autism, was discovered to be a part of the global hacker collective Lapsus$, which was in charge of carrying out cyberattacks against a number of big firms, including as EE, Nvidia, and Uber.
According to Bloomberg, Kurtaj and an unnamed 17-year-old accomplice were found guilty of significant computer misuse, fraud, and blackmail after a seven-week criminal trial. Kurtaj's obsession with hacking, Judge Patricia Lees stressed, presented "a high risk of serious harm to the public through skill in gaining unfettered access to computers." Kurtaj will stay in a safe hospital setting as a precaution until a mental health tribunal finds that he is no longer a danger to others.
The 17-year-old accomplice was given an 18-month supervision mandate in addition to a youth rehabilitation term. An hour of Grand Theft Auto 6 development footage was leaked online by hackers in September, including Kurtaj, giving fans a first look at the much awaited sequel.
In response, Rockstar released the official GTA 6 trailer, which garnered over 90 million views in a single day. The teaser revealed that the game would include a dual protagonist plot with a female protagonist for the first time in the series, and that it would be primarily set in Vice City, a made-up version of Miami.2025 will see the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
