According to new casting call details, Kojima's upcoming PlayStation stealth project is set to enter active performance development soon.
A new casting breakdown for Physint has surfaced online, providing one of the most detailed glimpses yet into the tone and production stage of Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions' highly anticipated espionage title.
According to details first reported via industry casting materials, the project internally codenamed "Shimmer" during casting is now preparing for performance capture work, with shooting expected to begin as soon as June. The casting call is being handled by director Mari Ueda, who previously worked on Death Stranding 2.
The leaked breakdown describes a dramatic sequence set on a hijacked bus that closely resembles the tense pacing of a Hollywood action thriller. The scene requires a wide range of background and speaking roles, including:
A mother holds a newborn baby.
Five teenagers with diverse backgrounds.
Two adult male passengers.
A central antagonist character with a German accent.
The setup suggests a tightly packed, real-time crisis scenario, which is consistent with Kojima's signature cinematic storytelling style, as seen in games such as Metal Gear Solid.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of the casting notice is the description of the antagonist. The character is compared to Mads Mikkelsen's performance in the TV series Hannibal, which is described as calm yet unsettling, with a "quiet but intense" presence and "psychotic confidence."
This is especially notable given Mikkelsen's previous collaboration with Kojima in Death Stranding, which has caused rumors that the creative team is drawing inspiration from previous performances and partnerships.
The appearance of this casting call strongly suggests that Physint is progressing beyond early concept work and into full performance capture and cinematic production, with reports indicating that filming for the "Shimmer" segment could begin in June, a significant milestone in the game's development. The only confirmed cast members for the project are Don Lee, Charlee Fraser, and Minami Hamabe.
While Physint is still in the works, Hideo Kojima next playable game, OD is expected to be developed with Xbox Game Studios. Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer will play key roles in the project.
Overall, despite the limited official details, the latest casting leak provides a rare glimpse into Physint's direction, revealing a focus on cinematic storytelling, international casting, and intense performance-driven scenes continuing Kojima's tradition of ambitious, boundary-pushing games.
