Black Myth: Wukong does not have standard blocking or parrying methods, but it does have a unique means to deflect fighting hits using a special spell. Learning to parry properly may significantly boost your battle experience, much like it does in games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Most of the time, you'll have to rely on dodging, but with the correct abilities, you can change the flow of combat by mastering the parry process.
Unlocking the Rock Solid Parrying Spell in Black Myth: Wukong
In Black Myth: Wukong, mastering the Rock Solid spell is essential for parrying. This defensive spell causes enemies to fall down, allowing you to launch strong counterattacks. However, it is not available at the start. After beating the Tiger Vanguard boss in Chapter 2, a Headless Musician rewards you with the spell, Rock Solid. Once used, the spell turns Wukong into stone, allowing you to deflect strikes.
Keep in mind that Rock Solid has a 15-second cooldown, so you cannot parry every strike. It is critical to use this spell carefully, especially against impacts that are difficult to dodge.
How to Parry Enemy Attacks
Once you've equipped the Rock Solid spell, successful parrying requires exact timing. When an opponent starts an attack, use the proper button combination: R2 + Triangle (PS5), RB + Y (PC/Controller), or 2 (PC/Keyboard).
different enemies have differing attack times, therefore practice is necessary. Look for visual signs, such as an attacker removing their weapon or leaning back, to predict their next move. When you parry successfully, you should see sparks fly and hear a distinct "ching" sound, indicating a successful deflection.
For smaller enemies (Yaoguais), a good parry will instantly freeze them, allowing you time to respond. However, not all enemies can be staggered, and you cannot completely block strikes; deflection is your best choice.
Upgrading the Rock Solid Spell
After you've obtained the Rock Solid spell, you may improve its efficacy by earning new abilities in the Self-Advancement menu's Alteration tab. There are six skills available for improving Rock Solid:
Rock Mastery, Ironclad, and Bold Venture are all powerful upgrades, while Rapid Return and Upperhand all improve fighting efficiency. While these modifications increase Rock Solid's durability, limiting the deflection window is typically not suggested.
Mastering the Rock Solid spell and its upgrades will help you eliminate the difficulties in Black Myth: Wukong. Timing and planning are critical for shifting the tide in your favor.
