Mafia: The Old Country Set to Launch August 8 with a $49.99 Price Tag Deluxe Edition Details Revealed

Mark your calendars, Mafia fans—the highly awaited next chapter in the famous crime story, "Mafia: The Old Country," will officially premiere on August 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Nvidia GeForce Now.

In a welcome surprise in spite of increasing game pricing across the industry, publisher 2K has stated that the standard version of the game will retail for $49.99 / £44.99, a move that is sure to please both longtime fans and newbies.

Mafia The Old Country A Return to Gritty Storytelling

Unlike today's massive live-service releases, Mafia: The Old Country is an alone, linear story – a throwback to the series' origins. 2K's president, David Ismailer, stressed the game's short storytelling format:

“We believe there’s still a strong appetite for tightly woven, cinematic experiences that don’t demand endless hours. This is our chance to give players a rich, emotional journey within a focused, premium package.”

First Look at the Gameplay

The news was followed by a brand-new gameplay trailer showing stealth mechanics and real early 1900s Sicily countryside. Nick Baynes, Hangar 13's president, described the game as "gritty, grounded, and emotional."

Players will take on the role of Enzo Favara, a young Sicilian guy working his way through the risky ranks of Don Torrisi's criminal organization. The game attempts to investigate the beginnings of organized crime through cinematic storytelling, period-appropriate visuals, and harsh gameplay that mirrors the series' finest moments.
