Mojang Studios and Microsoft have officially announced Minecraft Dungeons 2 bringing back the action-RPG spin-off of Minecraft with a much larger scale.
The sequel was announced during Minecraft Live 2026, and it quickly became the event's biggest reveal. This time Mojang is aiming for a more expansive experience, with brand-new areas to explore, tougher enemies to face, and even more loot to find.
According to the developers Minecraft Dungeons 2 is about a new and growing threat that has the potential to wipe out the world. Players will once again band together with friends to take on dangerous missions and fight their way through waves of enemies in a co-op adventure that expands on the original game's formula.
While the core dungeon-crawling gameplay returns, the sequel is expected to offer more variety in encounters and environments, making the overall experience feel bigger and more dynamic.
The game will be released in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo platforms, including the current and next-generation Switches. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass upon release.
Along with the game reveal, Mojang announced plans to expand Minecraft beyond gaming. Chessington World of Adventures is currently developing a Minecraft-themed attraction, with an opening date of 2027. The attraction will feature rides and interactive experiences inspired by Minecraft.
Minecraft continues to grow as one of gaming's largest and most versatile franchises, with a new sequel in the works as well as real-world experiences in development.
