Rebellion Studios Reveal New Sci-Fi Horror Shooter Alien Deathstorm

Rebellion Studios the British developer behind the Sniper Elite series and Atomfall, has officially announced its latest project, Alien Deathstorm, an intense sci-fi horror action game set on a storm-ravaged alien world. The reveal occurred during today's Xbox Partner Preview livestream, giving fans their first look at the game's haunting visuals and relentless combat.
Survive the Deadly Colony in Alien Deathstorm
In Alien Deathstorm, players are sent to a remote off-world colony after all communications go down. What begins as an investigation quickly turns into a desperate battle for survival against waves of grotesque alien creatures and unpredictable environmental hazards. The colony has been decimated by a massive, planet-wide storm, making survival a race against both monstrous foes and nature.
“The player’s objective is to uncover why the colony has fallen silent while saving as many lives as possible,” explained Ben Fisher, Head of Design at Rebellion, in an interview with Xbox Wire.
Classic Sci-Fi and Creepy Horror Combined in Alien Deathstorm
The game heavily relies on classic science fiction aesthetics, using inspiration from 1980s sci-fi films such as Alien and VHS-era visuals. Fisher emphasized that the design favors a more mechanical, "analogue" feel over modern touchscreen interfaces, giving the colony a lived-in, tangible appearance.
“We’ve combined influences from Lovecraftian horror and retro sci-fi to create a unique, atmospheric world that feels both eerie and authentic,” Fisher said.
Action Horror with High-Tension Exploration
Alien Deathstorm is charged as a "true hybrid," combining Rebellion's trademark action-packed shooter mechanics with high-stakes exploration and environmental discovery. Players must navigate the storm-blasted planet's ever-changing hazards while fighting off relentless alien threats.
The "Deathstorm" in the title refers to the catastrophic, planet-wide storm that has ravaged the colony, posing an ever-present threat to both combat and movement. Every encounter provides to keep players on edge, making survival a second-by-second challenge.
Alien Deathstorm Release Date and Platforms
Alien Deathstorm is set to be released in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, allowing subscribers to start exploring the alien-infested colony early on.
Alien Deathstorm with its unique blend of retro sci-fi visuals, Lovecraftian horror, and high-octane action, looks to be a standout addition to Rebellion's portfolio, providing players with a tense, atmospheric first-person experience unlike anything seen before.
