Rockstar Games is preparing to reveal Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) in a highly anticipated event, and as part of this change, the renowned game developer has decided to say goodbye to its long-standing Social Club logo. This significant modification in branding was reported by PC Gamer and backed up by the unofficial Rockstar news source @videotechuk_ on Twitter.
A contrast of messages displayed on the former Social Club website shows how it moved away from the Social Club identity. Notably, all references to "Social Club members" have been changed with references to "Rockstar Games members." A notification that previously stated, "You don't have any Social Club friends," has now been updated to read, "You don't have any Rockstar Games friends."
This move comes at an important moment for Rockstar Games, as it prepares to enter a new era with the December release of the GTA 6 announcement trailer. Although Rockstar has yet to make an official announcement, GTA 6 is expected to be released in 2024. This will be Rockstar's first new release since 2018, the first to be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S generation consoles, and the first addition to the Grand Theft Auto series since 2013.
Rockstar's choice to rebrand and optimise its online membership system hints at the company's strategic planning for this exciting new phase in gaming. As the gaming community waits for GTA 6, Rockstar has speculated that it will be released in early December 2023, coinciding with the studio's 25th anniversary.
