According to data from SteamDB, an analytics website, Valve's gaming platform, Steam, broke its own record for concurrent users this Sunday reaching a historic peak of 33,675,229 online players at 2 pm UTC on January 7.

This milestone comes after Steam's previous record of 33,598,520 users was reached in March 2023, after it first crossed 30 million concurrent users in mid-October 2022. At the time of the most recent milestone, 10,653,243 players were playing different games.

Although the total concurrent users statistic—which includes all users logged into Steam, including those who are just running the client software in the background without playing is frequently highlighted, the concurrent in-game players statistic shows how many people are actually playing games.

When Steam first hit 10 million concurrent in-game players in January 2023, it was a major milestone. Additionally, according to SteamDB an incredible 14,535 games were made available on the platform in 2023—a rise of about 2,000 titles over the year before. 256 games have already been made available on the digital distribution platform this year.

After its Winter Sale ends, Steam has big plans for early 2024. There will be sales and promotions leading up to the much awaited Spring Sale in March. The platform's ongoing involvement and expansion show how well-liked it is among gamers.
