The Elder Scrolls 6 Gets Development Update After Eight Years

After years of waits and rumors we have finally received an update on Bethesda's much-awaited RPG, The Elder Scrolls 6. More than eight years after the game was first revealed at E3, Microsoft has released new information about its development providing comfort that the long-awaited sequel is making progress behind the scenes.

During a recent interview with Variety, Xbox Chief Content Officer Matt Booty revealed that he personally saw the game in action while visiting Bethesda Game Studios. While Microsoft has yet to fully unveil the project, Booty stated that the game is looking impressive and making good progress.

According to Booty, Xbox is carefully selecting the right moment to reveal The Elder Scrolls 6. He explained that the company does not want to show the game too early and instead plans to release it when it can meet player expectations and provide a better idea of when gamers can expect to play it. Booty described the project as "amazing" and said it is progressing well.

Todd Howard Bethesda's director, recently shared a similar update. Howard confirmed in separate interviews earlier this year that the majority of Bethesda Game Studios' focus has shifted to The Elder Scrolls 6  following the release of Starfield. He stated that the team is actively playing the game internally and is nearing an important development milestone, and that the studio is pleased with its current progress.

Despite the positive news either Microsoft nor Bethesda have announced a release date. Howard previously warned fans that the game is still some time away, while also revealing that Bethesda is improving its technology with the next generation of its Creation Engine. The studio believes that these enhancements will help deliver a larger and more ambitious fantasy world than previous Elder Scrolls games.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was clearly absent from Xbox's recent summer showcase leaving some fans unsure how far development had advanced. However, recent comments indicate that the project has progressed beyond its early stages and is now fully playable internally, despite the fact that it is still years away from release.

While there is still no gameplay trailer or official release date, this is the most positive update fans have received in years. For the time being, Bethesda appears to be focused on polishing the experience before making a major public announcement. Until then players eager to return to Tamriel must be patient as one of gaming's most anticipated RPGs makes its long journey to release.
