According to a recent announcement, The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be released on the PlayStation 5. This information comes from new found documents that provide light on Microsoft's exclusive goals for the highly anticipated RPG.
The gaming community has been abuzz with speculation over the fate of iconic titles like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls since Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda and its array of renowned companies and properties. With new installments on the way, fans have been waiting to find out whether these games will remain multi-platform or become exclusive to Xbox. We finally have some clarity today.
A document has surfaced in the ongoing FTC v Microsoft case that clearly outlines Microsoft's intentions: The Elder Scrolls VI will not be released on PlayStation 5. According to The Verge, a graphic made by Microsoft for the FTC reveals that The Elder Scrolls VI will be released in 2026, as previously speculated. However, the paper confirms that the game will be restricted to Xbox systems and PC, leaving PlayStation fans out.
Notably, the graphic includes a remark from Xbox CEO Phil Spencer's GQ interview, in which he says, "In order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have, and that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI."
The Elder Scrolls 6 was first revealed in 2018, which Bethesda has subsequently admitted was a mistake. Although the game has officially entered early development following the release of Starfield, it's crucial to note that while these documents predict a 2026 release date, delays are always possible, as proven by Starfield's one-year delay. Gamers will have to wait for more information on this highly anticipated title.
