Thief: The Dark Project Remastered Announced

Thief: The Dark Project is making its long-awaited return more than 27 years after it first revolutionized the stealth genre. Nightdive Studios a retro remastering has officially announced Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, which will allow currrent gen players to experience one of the most gaming's influential stealth adventures with improved visuals and gameplay.
The remaster rebuilt with Nightdive's KEX Engine and is set to release this winter on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC platforms. The updated version aims to preserve the atmosphere and tension that made the classic original, while also including modern features that today's players expect.
Players will once again take on the role of Garrett, the legendary master thief, as he navigates a dark world filled with corruption and secrets. The remaster offers up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS for smoother gameplay, as well as improved textures, character models, animations, and cutscenes. Nightdive Studios has also made several quality-of-life enhancements while keeping the original experience true to the classic game.
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered contains all of the content from Thief Gold, allowing players to access all missions, extra levels, and additional content in one package. It also includes a new mission selection feature, which allows you to replay favorite chapters without having to restart the campaign.
The remaster includes new weapon and item wheels for easier access to Garrett's tools, as well as modern controller support, vibration feedback, motion controls, and gyro targeting. PC players will also be able to enjoy fan-made campaigns and custom missions, adding years of community-created content and increased replay value to the game.
According to Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick, the team's goal is to keep the original's intelligence and tension while making it feel like it belongs on modern hardware. Meanwhile, Patrice Baig stated that Thief remains one of the industry's most influential immersive experiences and should be introduced to a new generation of players.
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. Switch owners will receive a free upgrade to the Switch 2 version. The remaster, which includes upgraded visuals, modern controls, and all Thief Gold content, aims to be the best way to experience the classic stealth adventure.
